🚨 Solana about to uncap blocks? @jump_firedancer team just dropped a wild proposal: ➡️ Kill Solana’s fixed block compute limit (currently 60M CU → maybe 100M soon) ➡️ After the Alpenglow upgrade, blocks scale with validator performance instead ➡️ Bigger hardware = more transactions = more revenue Here’s the play: - Validators with strong setups can stuff more txs per block. - Smaller ones get skipped automatically on oversized blocks. - Creates a flywheel: upgrade hardware → fit bigger blocks → earn more → push others to upgrade. Alpenglow already slashed finality from 12.8s → 150ms (!!). Now Firedancer wants to push throughput beyond hard-coded limits. Concerns? Sure 👇 - Could tilt power toward mega-validators. - Potential centralization risks if block size scaling gets extreme. But as Anza’s Roger Wattenhofer put it: “I’ve always been a big advocate of ditching the limit.” Bottom line? This proposal, if passed, unleashes Solana’s raw hardware race. 🏎️ Performance arms...
